Welcome to our challenge Rare Words .

In April, we have two words:
Apricate = to bask in the sunshine
Timorous = scared, fearful, or simply shy

Feel free to interpret the prompt as you want. You don't have to use the word itself in your work.

Allowed are fics up to 500 words, small poems such as haiku or tanka, icons (100 x 100px), and graphics (maximum 500 x 500px).

All fandoms, genres, and ratings are welcome. Original works and real-person works are fine, too.

Writing - April 2026

Like yesterday, I'm posting early on this. It's unlikely I'll have the time for writing while I'm away, so, although there might be a few drabbles, I don't expect to make much progress. This month I've written about 4.5K words, bringing my total to 37.5K, which, hopefully I will make up for over the summer.

For

allbingo Flower Challenge, using the Dancing with Daffodils prompts, I wrote four double drabbles, A Spring Morning in the Garden, an ACD Holmes retirement story.

And

whatif_au is running a bingo challenge again this year, so I've written Hudson's Modelling Agency - The New Models a BBC Sherlock/Hamlet crossover and Joining A Band which is a Hobbit movie story.

Tuesday: The Letter "C"

Hi, everyone! I'm templefugate, and I'll be your host again this week. Just like last week, this week we will be focusing on alphabetical prompts!

As a reminder, we are using a new posting schedule. Sundays are for Lonely Prompts and sharing the fills that you completed during the week, Tuesdays and Thursdays are for new themes and prompts, and Saturdays will remain a Free for All.

Today's theme is the letter "c". All prompts should center around a word or words starting with "c".

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
