This looked like a fun challenge, so thought I'd give it a try! Thankfully, the comm rules allow for platonic and familial pairings as well as romantic, because I am not usually a romance writer lol.

I had fun with this last year so figured I'd try it again. :)

Since there are so many fanfic prompt challenges in October hosted on Tumblr, and they all look fun to do, I mix and match my favorite prompts from each event and basically try to get as many prompts filled as I can during October. It's also a great way to prep for NaNoWriMo, by getting into the habit of writing every day.

This year, I'll be using these prompt lists. Sharing them here in case anyone else would like to give one (or more) of these challenges a try:
Flufftober - 31 day challenge to write fluff. This year, there's some additional challenges and a ton of alt prompts to choose from as well.
Whumptober - The tumblr classic. 31 day challenge for writing whump and hurt/comfort fics. Four prompts to choose from each day.
Angstober - Angst writing challenge
Cozytober - Autumn-themed writing event hosted on AO3. I don't use that site anymore but the prompts are really good, so I just post my fills on tumblr instead.
Fictober - 31 dialogue prompts
Darktober - hosted by the Monthly Writing Challenges blog. 31 dark, angsty, and spooky prompts for October.
OC-tober & Ominous October - Two different prompt events hosted by the Prompt Foundry blog.

Wow! I went into this thinking I'd be happy if I got even 10 or 15 prompts done. Instead, the final tally is over fifty prompts filled! In addition to the prompt lists from the various October tumblr challenges, I also mixed in some prompts for my unfilled bingo cards (because I really need to finally get those done lol).

Anyway, this was an unexpectedly productive month for writing. Let's hope I can keep that momentum going for NaNo!

There are way too many fanfic/fanart challenges on Tumblr right now, and I love all the prompt lists too much to choose between them. Since I know I'm not going to have enough free time to complete any of the lists anyway, I figured I'd just have fun with it and select my favorite prompts from each list to complete.

Here's the prompt lists I'm going to be mix-and-matching from, in case anyone else would like some fun challenges to join this month:

Flufftober - my favorite seasonal fanfic challenge! 31 fluffy prompts, plus 10 alt prompts.

Cozytober - I think the actual event is being run on AO3, but I don't really use that site anymore so I'm just including a link to the tumblr post for it.

Sweet & Spooky Halloween - A fun mix of fluff, spooky, and angst.

Fictober - Dialogue prompts! Tbh I really didn't need another one to add to my already busy month, but these prompts were too good to pass up.

Challenge description: Take an album of your choice and for each song, write a fic, using a lyric from the song as the title.

Found an awesome fic writing challenge called the LyricalTitles Album Challenge. The album I chose is "So Much (For) Stardust" by Fall Out Boy. It's a total of thirteen songs, so I doubt I'll finish all of them, but I thought it'd be fun to at least try! (Also, I'm going to be doing this at my own pace, since I'm way too slow of a writer and have zero free time to actually get it done before the challenge's deadline.)

The reason my journal went dead silent in February is because I needed a month offline to relax and de-stress after Snowflake Challenge ended. (I genuinely loved working on Snowflake, but it was also my first time volunteering for any kind of fandom event so it was a lot more exhausting than I had expected.) Taking a month off provided a much needed break, and now I'm slowly easing myself back into fandom this week -- as well as trying to catch up on everything I missed while I was gone.

Anyway, I'll be back to writing fics, making icons, and generally posting about fandom things starting in March.

On a side note, here's a few writing challenges currently running that I thought looked fun:

One Random Trope - a fun writing challenge using TV Tropes for random prompt generation

I'm challenging myself to create one fanwork for every day of December. Fics, icons, rec lists, photo manips, whatever. As long as I create something for each day. I'm mainly going to be focusing on finishing some of my wips, but of course requests are also welcome.

The main reason for this is to make sure I hit some of my progress goals for the year before 2023 is over. But also I haven't been very active in fandom stuff this year and I'd like to at least finish the year with a fun challenge for myself.
