Haven't done one of these in a while, so thought it'd be fun. Stealing last week's list because I meant to do it and forgot lol.

[community profile] thefridayfive list for 10/17/25:

1. How long ago did you join DW?
I think it was back in 2018 on my original account. This new account was started in 2021.

2. How did you find out about DW?
I was on LJ originally and trying to find an alternative to move to. Saw one of my friends on LJ post about moving to DW, and I decided to give it a try.

3. If someone introduced you to DW, is s/he still on your friends list?
No, we eventually drifted to different fandoms and lost touch with each other.

4. Have you introduced anyone to DW?
A couple people. I post how-to guides on Tumblr and it sometimes manages to convince people to give DW a try.

5. Is your DW public or friends only, and why?
I have two DW journals. This one is for fandom stuff so it's public. I have another journal for personal stuff that is locked to friends only, but it's barely active anymore. I find I prefer to stick to fun things when I'm online and save the irl stuff for dealing with offline.

My responses to [community profile] thefridayfive for 6/13/25.

1. What item would you be embarrassed for people to know you own?
None that I can think of.

2. What is something you splurged on just for you?
I'm on a tight budget, so I try not to splurge often. But I did cave in and buy a bunch of new funko pops last month.

3. What is something that you own with no real world value that is priceless to you?
Probably my scrapbooks and my box of keepsake items.

4. Do you collect anything?
So much stuff! My main collections are Star Wars, Comic Books, Funko Pops, Furby, My Little Pony, and dragon figurines.

5. What item belonging to a friend/family member do you covet?
My younger brother has an autographed photo of Roy Rogers that my mom gifted to him ages ago. (We had a few DVDs of old westerns while growing up and Roy Rogers was one of our favorites.) I'd love to add it to my western movie collection if he ever wants to sell it.

My responses to the [community profile] thefridayfive for 6/6/2025.

1. Have you ever been to summer camp?
No.

2. Have you ever made a s'more?
Yes. My family used to have bonfires in one of the outer fields every autumn and we'd roast marshmallows and make s'mores.

3. Have you ever slept under the stars (no tent/tarp)?
No. I'm very much not an outdoorsy person.

4. Have you ever had a member of the opposite sex sleep over at your house?
Yes

5. What type of bed do you have (queen, twin, bunk, etc.)?
Twin

My responses to the [community profile] thefridayfive questions for 5/2/2025.

1. What is your all time favorite book?
I don't think I have a #1 favorite, but I do tend to reread these three the most often: "The Hundred And One Dalmatians" by Dodie Smith, "Q-Squared" by Peter David, and "The Hound of the Baskervilles" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

2. What is your all time favorite movie?
"The Prisoner of Zenda" (1952 version)

3. What are you reading right now?
"Turlough and the Earthlink Dilemma", a Doctor Who book about Turlough's adventures on his home planet after he stops being the Doctor's companion. It's pretty good so far, but I'm only about halfway through.

4. What is your favorite TV show?
Probably "Farscape". I consider it one of my primary comfort shows, along with "Stargate Atlantis" and "Psych".

5. What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
This past weekend, my roommate and I went to see the 20th anniversary re-release of "Revenge of the Sith". We've seen it a bunch of times already, but it was awesome getting to see it on the big screen. It was also my roommate's first time seeing a Star Wars movie in theater, so that was a fun experience for her.

My responses to [community profile] thefridayfive questions for 10/17/24:

1. What's a song you'd enjoy screaming along to as you drove down the highway?
I actually have an entire playlist just for that purpose XD. Don't think I could pick only one to list here, but there are a lot of One Republic, Zayde Wolf, Fall Out Boy, and Owl City on there.

2. What is your favorite place/type of environment to relax?
The library! It probably sounds cliche, but that is genuinely the place I always seek out whenever I need to de-stress and relax for a while. I like to take my laptop and just sit and write for hours in the library.

3. What are the best kind of dreams?
I tend to lucid dream a lot, so I love using my dreams as a place to work on my stories. If I have a scene in a story that is giving me trouble, I'll just play out various versions of that scene in my dreams to test which one works the best. Or sometimes I'll have random plot ideas pop into my head while I'm dreaming and get to explore it fully in my dream before deciding if it's worth writing or not.

4. What do you look for in a mate?
I know the word "mate" can mean different things depending on American English vs British English, but I'm not sure which is meant here. Assuming this is referring to a friend, the qualities I look for most are someone who is easy to laugh with, is a good listener, and someone I have interests in common with.

5. If you were a crayon color, what color would you be and why?
I would be one of those dual-color crayons with one end being a deep midnight blue and the other end a sparkly pastel purple.

My responses to the Friday Five for 9/27/24. The topic today was books! Which is fun timing, because this year I've been trying to get back into reading more.

1. Most everyone will recommend a book or two to read, but are there any you would tell people to avoid?
Honestly, I'd never tell anyone not to read a book. Maybe if it's a book that has elements I know will be triggering/upsetting for that specific person, but otherwise no. Just because I personally don't like or agree with a book doesn't mean it won't resonate with someone else. If the Vulcans got one thing right, it was their whole "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations" philosophy.

2. If you take a book on vacation, are you more likely to take something you haven't read yet or an old favorite?
Definitely an old favorite. I get stressed whenever I travel away from home, so having some "comfort items" with me always helps. My brain is already overloaded with new input from the vacation itself, adding new books/movies on top of that would be too much. (Yes, I'm ND.)

3. Do you read any genres by the season? Like horror around Halloween? Cozy Mysteries in the Winter? Romance in the Summer?
Not really. I tend to just read whatever genre I'm in the mood for at any given moment. Although, I do tend to read more books overall during the winter than any other season.

4. If you read a lot of Fiction do you prefer an author that has a series with the same character(s), or do you prefer stand-alone stories?
I definitely prefer series! I hate the feeling of finishing a really good book and then realizing there's nothing more to consume of it -- no more adventures with those characters, no more exploring that world, etc.

5. Is there a book that you wish you could read again, but experience it like it was the first time?
Ooh, that's a good question. If I had to choose just one, it would probably be Q-Squared by Peter David. I still vividly remember how excited and captivated I was the first time I read it, and I would love the chance to experience that feeling again. Not only did the author expertly juggle three parallel timelines in a way that kept you engrossed and never left you feeling lost as to what was happening, but the book also featured just about everything I would want from a Star Trek adventure: time travel, interweaving TOS canon with newer TNG elements, more lore on the Q Continuum, Picard and Q team-up, Riker/Troi, a sword fight... I mean, it's pretty much the perfect book.

I'm back after a several month hiatus. And by back, I mean back to the internet as a whole. I've done no real writing, art, tumblr scrolling, dreamwidth activities, not even working on my website. 2024 hit hard and kept me busy for the first 2/3 of the year. I'm hoping to get back into writing and graphics-making over the next few months, and get active in fandom spaces again.

While catching up on stuff I've missed, I found this set of Friday Five questions that seems fitting for a post-hiatus update:

1. Have you gotten everything done that you had hoped to do during the first half of 2024?
Not even close. Had to put all my personal goals on hold while dealing with work and life stress. But I'm working on getting back on track now!

2. Did anything exciting or unexpected happen to you during the first half of 2024?
A couple, actually. I got a new roommate, two pet cats, and took my first trip to Branson (which was my childhood dream vacation)

3. What big plans do you have for the second half of 2024?
Writing! Fanvids! Graphics! And, of course, getting my website into a bit more presentable condition.

4. Have you taken, or are you planning, a vacation this year?
I took a weekend trip to Branson, Missouri. It's been my dream since I was very young to visit that town and now, at almost thirty, this was my first time actually seeing it. I plan to take a longer trip next month to see more of it.

5. Have you ever wanted to be one of the people writing and posting these questions?
I've considered it before, but tbh I barely have enough free time lately for my own projects, let alone taking on outside/community as well lol. Hopefully next year I'll have more time to be active in the wider DW community.
