I didn't think I'd have time/energy to participate in any of the Snowflake challenges myself this year, but Challenge #7 is fannish resources and I couldn't pass that one up.

Challenge #7: Make a list of fannish and/or creative resources.

My list is under the cut.

Fanfic Resources

Dabble - I signed up for Dabble back when it was first launching just to test it out, as I have tried many different types of writing software and never found one I was happy with. I've been actively using Dabble for years now and it far surpasses any others I've tried. I highly recommend it especially for writers like me who do not write linearly because it allows you to separate your story by chapters and scenes, and then write those scenes in whatever order you want (you can even rearrange scene/chapter order as needed!)

Pinboard - A site where you can bookmark your favorite fics, art, and just about anything else you want! My favorite thing about this site is the tagging system. It makes it so easy to sort fics by whatever criteria you want, and you can search multiple tags at once.

Instapaper - Another bookmarking site. I haven't tried this one out for myself yet (it's on my to-do list for this year) but it has both free and paid account options and allows unlimited bookmarks even on the free tier.

SquidgeWorld Archive - For anyone looking for an alternative to AO3, this is a great option. It's smaller, but also devoid of the drama you get on AO3, and the website is built on the same code as AO3 so you don't have to learn a new UI.

Indieweb Resources

Neocities - I finally jumped into Neocities this past year and my experience so far has been fantastic. It's a great way to have freedom in creating your site however you want (you do all the front-end coding yourself, unlike the web-builders such as weebly) and it's free. There's also a fun community of indieweb creators on there, and tons of cool webrings to join.

Melonland Forum - A great forum to find and share info on indieweb, web design, coding, etc.

W3Schools - Great place to learn about using html and css.

Comment Widget - A neocities user created a comment box that you can easily install on your website with just css, javascript, and a google sheet. It's extremely simple to use and allows you to have a comment section on your website without having to install a third-party app.

Misc Resources

DaFont - Tons of custom fonts you can download to use in your graphic/icon making, website, or blog. Some are free and others require purchasing a license.

WordToHTML - Converts your document or plain text to html.

Text Colorizer - A simple program that allows you to create color gradients for your text using either html or bbcode. Very helpful for spicing up your forum profiles or dreamwidth posts!
If you don't have an account you can create one now.
HTML doesn't work in the subject.
